Our Mission Statement

"We exist as a church to bring the glory to God
by bringing the lost to faith in Christ and
the saints to maturity in Christ"

Identity Statement
Know the Lord, Grow in Faith, Sow the Gospel:
These three simple phrases serve as the statement of our Purpose as a church, as the Picture of the vision we have for the disciples in our church, and as the Plan for how we will accomplish this purpose and vision.

Our Purpose
To know the Lord through faith, worship and prayer; to Grow in Faith through Bible study, discipleship and stewardship; and to Sow the Gospel through ministry, missions and evangelism. Our Picture\Vision for each disciple is that they would be Knowing the Lord, Growing In Faith and Sowing the Gospel on a daily basis. Our Plan for achieving these things is to provide helpful and encouraging resources in the areas of Knowing the Lord, Growing in Faith and Sowing the Gospel.

The manner in which we will engage ourselves in Knowing the Lord, Growing in Faith and Sowing the Gospel will be shaped and driven by our core values.

CORE VALUES

Bible-Centered Preaching and Teaching
We value a Bible-centered, clear and accurate communication of God's Word that magnifies Jesus Christ, ministers to the individual and urges obedience in the believer.
2 Tim. 3: 16-17; 2 Tim. 2: 15; John 12:32

People Matter to God
We value people, regardless of race, gender or age, and will seek to minister to their needs, share God's love with them and draw them into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
Eph. 4: 11-13; 1 Tim. 3: 1-13; John 13: 1- 17

Godly Servant. Leadership
We value Godly leaders who demonstrate a Spirit-led life, follow the servant attitude modeled by Christ, and whose lives, line up with the parameters of Scripture.
Eph. 4: 11-13; 1 Tim. 3: 1-13; John 13: 1- 17

Fellowship/Community
We value true Biblical fellowship where we all esteem one another, serve one another, pray for one another and love one another as Christ has done for us.
1 Cor. 1:9; James 5: 16; 1 John 1:7; Eccl. 4:9-12; 1 Cor. 12:12-27

Strong Families
We value strong families and are committed to developing families that will serve as a strong foundation to each member of that family and as a strong foundation of God's family, specifically our church.
1 Peter 3:8; Eph. 5:25; Matt. 12:34; Prov.22:6

Intercessory Prayer
We value intercessory prayer where we boldly, and persistently, lift up in prayer one another, the church, the church's leaders, our nation and all matters of need that come to our attention.
Luke 18: 1-18; Phil. 4:6-7; Hebrews 4:14-16

The Ordinances
We value the ordinances of the Lord's Supper and baptism and will faithfully, and scripturally, observe these ordinances as the powerful symbols, and statements that they are.
Matt. 26:26-29; 1 Cor. 11:23-26; Matt. 3: 13-17; Matt. 28: 18-20; Rom. 6:4-11

Worship
We value forms of worship and praise that best capture what God is doing in the faithful generations of the past, present and future and that enables those generations to best express their love and devotion for God.
John 4:24; 1 Peter 2:9; Psalm 100; Deut. 6:4

Our Purpose, Key Functions and Core Values
come together to form our Vision for our church and it's ministry.

Vision Statement
Our vision is to be a caring community where families and individuals of all races, gender, age and situation can come to faith in Jesus Christ, where they will be nurtured in that faith through the clear and accurate communication of God's Word, and where they will be led to be valued and contributing members of God's worshiping, praying and serving family at Poplar Level Baptist Church.
